Before hurricane Irma swept through Tampa, Florida, on Sunday September 10, Brian Kahrs evacuated his sister with her two children and two dogs to an emergency hurricane shelter at their local high school.
While inside the shelter Brian recorded what it was like to wait out the storm. He said “Choosing to evacuate to a public shelter is to take a giant leap out of one’s comfort zone . What helps ease the stress of the situation is the new friends you will meet and the incredible display of kindness , generosity , and courtesy of our new temporary family.
