If you are constantly gut-hooking fish, switch to a circle style hook to reduce this issue.\rbr\rbrTips - Cast the bluegill to high percentage areas like docks, fountains, laydowns, isolated stumps, dams, ect. Free line the bluegill in deeper water, and use a bobber to suspend a bluegill over vegetation or other obstacles.\rbr\rbrEffective water temps - 50 degrees to 80+ degrees\rbrIdeal conditions - Any as long as theres decent water clarity (15 inches or more)\rbrHookset - When using a bait holder style hook, be sure to reel any excess slack and use a strong vertical to slightly angled hookset to ensure good penetration into the bass jaw. \rbrWhen using a circle hook, be sure to reel in any excess slack and use a horizontal sweeping hookset to stick the bass in the corner of its mouth.\rbr\rbrRetrieval - I normally cast the bait out to a good looking target and wait anywhere from 2-5 minutes before retrieving it for a new cast. If there is a stumpfield or a big dock youre trying to cover, you can pitch the bluegill, let it swim around for 30 seconds, then pull it up and repeat. The world record tying bass was caught in japan using this technique around dock pilings (\rbrIf the bluegill is dead or almost dead, you can work it as a jerkbait with small twitches and pauses in between, you can sometimes elicit a strike from a hungry bass on the pause. \rbr\rbrWhere not to use the bait - Thick vegetation or muddy water (6 inches or less visibility)\rbr\rbr----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------\rbr\rbrLocation: Bluegill - Font Hill Wetland Park in Ellicott City Maryland\rbrBass - Alexs secret pond in Crofton, Maryland\rbrDate: October 14th, new\rbrPrimary Pattern: Free-lining bluegills about 30 yards off the bank\rbrTime Fished: 4 pm - 6 pm\rbrAir Temp: High of 68 degrees, low of 63 degrees\rbrWater Temp: 65 degrees\rbrWater Clarity: 15 inches \rbrConditions: Partly cloudy with winds from the WNW up to 3 mph\rbr\rbr----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------\rbr\rbrSupport me on patreon for awesome perks!\rbr$1 - One bonus video per month + a private patreon only live stream! \rbr$2 - Lure Guide to Bass Fishing (21 pages) + a guide to growing a fishing YT channel (23 pages) (Plus all $1 perks :D) \rbr\rbr----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------\rbr\rbrPlaylists:\rbrHow To Vids - \rbrCollabs with Legendary Anglers - \rbrEpic Fishing Challenges - \rbrBass Tournament Vids - \rbrFishing with my Subscribers - \rbrMulti Species Vids - \rbrSaltwater Fishing - \rbrSubscriber Fishing Tournaments - \rbrMystery Tackle Box Slams - \rbrMy Tackle Collection - \rbrOther Playlists - \rbr\rbrEmail - mhsiao8@gmail.
