In between dress fittings and general wedding prep, Joy’s brother Josepha went to ask for his then-girlfriend Kendra Caldwella’s father for his permission to ask her to marry hima.pbr p“I just had a question I was going to ask you,” Austin nervously said, while facing Kendra’s stoned-faced father. “Kendra and I have been talking for a whilea, courting for a while, and before we step any further into a relationship, I wanted to get your permission to ask her if it would be alright to marry her…I wanted to ask you first.”pbr pJoe’s question was then met with a cold stare from Kendra’s dad before he finally responded.pbr p“Well that’s a big step. We’ve talked for many many hours and I really feel like the Lord is leading in this direction. But I do want to remind you, you are taking one of my most precious gifts,” he said.pbr p“Yes, sir,” Joe responded before Kendra’s dad gave his blessing.pbr p“You have my wife and my blessing to go further,” he said with a smile. “We really appreciate your faithfulness and good attitude and the way you have honored my wife and I and [our] choices throughout this whole process.
