தமிழகம் முழுவதிலும் ஆறுகளில் மணல் கொள்ளை நடைபெறுவதாக போலீசாருக்கும் வருவாய் துறையினருக்கும் பொது மக்கள் தகவல் தெரிவித்தனர். இதையடுத்து மணிமுத்தாறு ஆற்றுப்படுகையில் மணல் கொள்ளையில் ஈடுபட்ட 15பேரை போலீசார் கைது செய்ததுடன் அவர்களின் வாகனங்களையும் பறிமுதல் செய்தனர். இதேபோல் தமிழகத்தில் பல்வேறு மாவட்டங்களில் மணல் கொள்ளையில் ஈடுபட்டவர்களை போலீசார் கைது செய்துள்ளனர்.
