pTens of thousands of Zimbabweans took to the streets of Harare, Bulawayo and other cities on November 18, celebrating the possibility of the end of Robert Mugabe’s rule after 37 years.ppThe demonstrations were the culmination of a week of large political events in the country, beginning with the a seizure of powera by the Zimbabwean military on November 15.ppMovement for Democratic Change President and former Zimbabwean Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai, arrived in the capital on November 16, during talks between the military and the Robert Mugabe regime over a timetable for his resignation.ppThe day before the demonstrations were held, Mugabe made his first appearancea since the military takeover, attending a graduation ceremony at Zimbabwe Open University.ppDemonstrations were also helda outside the Zimbabwean consulate in Johannesburg.
