Unconfirmed reports of gunfire prompt heavy response in London

London police said in a statement that they had not found any evidence of gun fire or casualties after a mass panic of shoppers had fled Oxford Street and Oxford Circus underground station. The police responded to a reported gunfire as if the incident was terrorism. Armed officers were deployed and the area surrounding the tube station was secured. When panic erupted in the area shoppers ran in all directions, there has been one report of a woman who suffered a minor injury.
