 Former Chief of Staff Reince Priebus suggests that reports regarding the high level of chaos in the White House are woefully understated.  The Associated Press notes that according to Chris Whipple's upcoming book, 'The Gatekeepers: How the White House Chiefs of Staff Define Every Presidency,' Priebus says of the Trump administration mayhem, "Take everything you've heard and multiply it by 50."  He also comments on the numerous failed attempts to rein in President Trump's Twitter habit.  "The team would give the president five or six tweets every day to choose from, and some of them would really push the envelope," Priebus states. "The idea would be at least they would be tweets that we could see and understand and control. But that didn't allow the president to be fully in control of his own voice. Everybody tried at different times to cool down the Twitter habit — but no one could do it."  The former chief of staff is also featured in 'Media Madness: Donald Trump, The Press, And The War Over The Truth,' another recent book that touches upon the White House's troubled inner workings, reports the Washington Post. Among the chaotic moments author Howard Kurtz describes is the time staffers woke up to the Trump tweet accusing President Barack Obama of having Trump Tower wiretapped.  "Priebus knew the staff would have to fall into line to prove the tweet correct, the opposite of the usual process of vetting proposed pronouncements," Kurtz writes. "Once the president had committed to 140 characters, he was not going to back off."  Recounting frenzied moments don't always explain why they occur.  Vox recently delved into that matter, breaking down the core causes of apparent dysfunction in the Trump White House.  It notes the problematic mix of incoherent and inconsistent messages coming from the top, the infighting that triggers among staff, and the administration sticking to the poor staffing decisions, such as Rob Porter, made at the outset.
