VANDENBERG AIR BASE, CALIFORNIA — SpaceX last week launched two demonstration broadband internet satellites.

On Feb. 22 2018, the company launched the PAZ radar imaging satellite for a Spanish government satellite operator. Also onboard the rocket manifest for that launch was 2 of their demo satellites, dubbed Microsat-2a and Microsat-2b.

Those are part of the SpaceX's planned Starlink broadband satellite network that will reportedly comprise a mesh of around 12,000 satellites orbiting the Earth.

According to the BBC, this network would provide internet to regions needing it the most. However it could also put SpaceX in competition with the telecom companies.
