Another October brings another trip to the great north woods of Wisconsin. Despite ruffed grouse numbers near the low of their population cycle, we were able to put in a successful trip this year and move a good number of birds. Many birds were young which was a good sign of a favorable hatch season this past spring. My 3 year old Vizsla is really shaping up to be a great grouse dog with a solid performance in only his 3rd season.\r

Woodcock hunting remained consistent and produced a few good coveys and as usual provided a great compliment to the King of Game Birds, the Ruffed Grouse.\r
