Youll never have to go to the store and buy tortillas again! \rbr\rbrEnjoy the video and leave questions or comments below.\rbr\rbrHomemade Tortillas\rbr\rbrMakes 12-14 tortillas\rbr\rbr3 cups all-purpose flour\rbr2 teaspoons salt\rbr1 ½ teaspoons baking powder\rbr¼ cup shortening or lard\rbr¼ cup bacon grease, cooled\rbr1 cup hot water\rbr\rbr\rbr-In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt and baking powder. \rbr-Cut in the shortening and bacon grease until crumbly. \rbr-Add the hot water and stir until combined. With your hands, work the dough into a ball. \rbr-Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead the dough about 2 minutes, adding more flour if needed to take away the stickiness. \rbr-Cover the dough with plastic wrap and let rest for 15 minutes. \rbr-Turn the dough back out onto the floured surface and turn to lightly flour the outside. Pinch the dough off into pieces slightly larger than a golf ball. Work the dough into balls and then press down lightly to form a round roughly the size of your palm. \rbr-With a rolling pin, roll each round out into a extremely thin circle. Repeat with the remaining rounds. \rbr-Place the tortillas onto a large greased cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. As the tortilla begins to bubble flip it. As it cooks slightly pat down to pop some of the bubbles. Cook just until light brown circles appear. \rbr-Wrap in a towel and place in a warm oven until you have finished cooking all of the tortillas and are ready to serve.
