These create a much more ambiguous and floating sound, which does not necessarily need to be resolved.\rbr\rbrIn Jazz, sus chords are usually extended to sus9 or susb9 chords. These are generally voiced a FG or D-7G. The sus chord canas a substitute for the II or the V or both the II and the V in a II-V-I progression.\rbr\rbrSuspended chords create an interesting and, dare I say, suspenseful sound and are used quite often in modern jazz.
