Gezza's Stream:Bluey enjoys typical North Wellington zephyr

We had a howling Northwesterly gale on 1 February. It lasted 3 days. Bluey wanted to crop some lawn & he wasn't going to let a little wind stop him. br br It's not uncommon for these pukekos to stand balanced on the fence and groom themselves in a high wind. Their feathers get blown about and they have to hang on like grim death with their long bony toes when gusts hit them. br br It doesn't seem to bother them that much. They'll even decide to walk along the fence top, waving their wings to keep their balance when they lose it or nearly get blown off it. They look like they just want to see if they can hang on until they get to the other end. br br Very resilient birds.
