Facebook Bans Hundreds of Russian Accounts The tech giant removed more than 200 accounts linked to Russian trolls that played a role in influencing the 2016 presidential election. The Chief Security Officer Alex Stamos revealed the company removed 70 Facebook and 65 Instagram accounts in addition to 138 Facebook pages. Ninety-five percent of those accounts were in Russian and targeted Russian speakers.
