This is Bernard, a New Zealand fantail or tiwakatiwakawaka, showing off some smooth moves & sweet talk, looking for love in all the right places, just up a bit too early for the ladies, it appears ... :o) br br Fantails delight anyone who sees them; they are very adept at catching insects in the air and their aerobatic ability, assisted by their beautiful opening and closing fan-shaped tail, is spellbinding to watch. br br Their chirping and song always seem to sound happy & and they can sometimes fly around & alongside you if you are walking through long grass or foliage, disturbing flying insects. br br They can often also be attracted and fly around you for a pass or two if you can make a chirping sound similar to the one they make & they think a potential mate is somewhere nearby.
