Rogue Emu Stops Traffic in New Zealand Neighbourhood

pDunedin man Logan Walden was shocked to find a rogue emua on the loose in his neighbourhood when he returned home from work on Tuesday, May 29.ppWalden told Storyful he and his family members stopped traffic at the intersection to their street as cars approached the giant bird, which was walking around the neighbourhood looking “quite relaxed.”ppHe said he called the police, who sent animal control.pp“The animal control guy said he never had to catch an emu in his 20 years on the job,” Walden said. “He was like, we don’t have an emu guy.”ppWalden said the emu’s owners came after about half an hour, wrapped the bird in a blanket and carried it home. He said the bird was “lying down on the grass relaxing” when they arrived.
