Nova Scotia resident Ariana Smith captured video of the moment a shark snatched a bass off her partner Millard Ells’ fishing line. The pair were on a fishing trip with their friend, Tim Mills, in the Bay of Fundy on July 22.
The Atlantic White Shark Conservancy in Massachusetts confirmed the shark in the video was a great white, according to reports.
The video shows Mills preparing a net to place the bass, while Millard attempted to reel it in. The shark can be seen jumping out of the water and taking the fish. The trio ended up having to cut the fishing line to release the catch and the shark. Smith estimated the bass weighed 18 pounds. Credit: Ariana Smith via Storyful
