"Niger Mambo", an early Afro-Cuban tune written by Nigerian Bandleader Bobby Benson was covered with different interpretations by American artists such as Stanley Turrentine and this funky version by Randy Weston who described the piece as representing exactly what is called "high life style" in West African music. Originally released on French Polydor Records, later featured on a great double LP re-issue on Comet Records.
