The granite blocs of Sardinia have recently started to see a lot more attention from the international climbing community. Last year, La Sportiva arranged a "Bloc Scouting" event to the island where a host of their athletes cleaned and climbed numerous lines on the island's boulders. While these climbers were predominantly taking a bouldering or trad climbing approach, there has also been significant sport climbing development on the island. This video, shot at Mount Ortobene shows one of the new routes in the area 'TT' (8a/5.13b). Like the other routes in this part of Sardinia, which range in difficulty from 6b to potential 9a projects, 'TT' follows a line of weather-worn formations referred to locally as 'tafoni.' This video is just the first in a series from Stefano Vacca and Claudio Mattu that aims to showcase the numerous climbing areas on Sardinia. We can't wait to see the rest!
