In a landmark verdict today, the Supreme Court decriminalized gay sex, creating history in India, the top court scrapped the draconian section 377. It's a major win for those who fought a decade’s long battle to bring about this change. While reading out the verdict by the five judge bench, CJI Dipak Mishra said that sec 377 is irrational, indefensible & arbitrary. Striking down the colonial law, the CJI also said that section 377 fetters the right to equality for the LGBT community.
