pSevere thunderstorms tore through parts of New South Wales on Friday, September 7, leaving areas across Sydney covered with a blanket of hailstones.ppThe Bureau of Meteorology issued severe thunderstorm warningsa and warned of heavy rain, flash flooding and large hailstones in a number of regions across the state.ppLightning strikes at a rate of 1,000 per hour were recordeda in the 50 kilometre radius around Sydney causing delays at the airporta, and flash flooding caused disruptionsa to the rail network.ppBankstown saw 58 millilitres of rain in an hour, according to ABCa.
