The Academy has been known to ignore actors who turn to directing in the past. Most notably, Ben Affleck's directorial effort in 'Argo.' The film was Cooper’s br directorial debut. It brought in eight nominations, br including best actor for the br 44 year old. The Academy Awards airs February 24th.
