Sania Mirza and Mahesh Bhupathi have bowed out of the Australian Open mixed doubles competition. The sixth seeded Indian duo went down tamely to eighth seeds Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Horia Tecau in straight sets. After losing the first set 3-6, the duo saved three match points at 3-5 in the second. But it was soon over as Tecau and Mattek-Sands raced off to an easy win, denying the Indians a spot in the final.
