India News : Flood throws Gujarat, UP out of gear

India News : With the state already receiving 78 per cent of its 798 mm monsoon rain so far, officials of the Gujarat State Disaster Management Authorities (GDMA) denied any evacuation in the low-lying areas of Bharuch though unofficial reports said 1,700 people have been removed from Bharuch and 11 villages near the Kadana dam. Surat city recorded a little above 91 mm of rain, as local rivers in south Gujarat are rising due to discharged water from the Ukai dam.br br Reports from the Irrigation department revealed that water level in the Sardar Sarovar Dam rose to 129 feet. Several villages close to the Narmada river and areas adjoining the Mahisagar river in Vadodara and Bharuch have been put on alert.
