Even as the state is yet to overcome the shock of the rape and subsequent murder of a 15-year-old girl who was 6 months pregnant in Jhalawar, a 17-year-old girl was raped in Mahesh Nagar locality in Jaipur on Tuesday. The girl later set herself on fire. Police have arrested the accused. The girl, with 45 burns, is battling for life at a city hospital.br br The matter came to light on Wednesday when the hospital authorities informed the police to extract the victim's statements recorded.br br The girl alleged that she was raped by one Manish, who is also a tenant in the same building where she lives. She had gone to make an urgent call from his cell phone. The girl's father is a security guard and her mother a tailor and both were at their respective work places when the incident occurred. "The girl alleged that Manish pulled her into his room and raped her," said a senior police officer.
