There is a massive cut in India's defence spending the defence budget has been slashed by a whopping 20 thousand crores. Defence Minister AK Antony has directed the military top brass to go slow on defence deals and make only those purchases which will have a direct bearing on operational preparedness. The decision which has been brought upon due to the economic slowdown will force a review of all military modernisation programmes.
