The new BJP core team has been announced with Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi being inducted in the party's parliamentary Board on expected lines. However, the inclusion of Modi's aide and former Gujarat Home Minister Amit Shah, named by CBI as the mastermind behind the abduction and fake counters of alleged terrorist Sohrabuddin Sheikh has raised many eyebrows. Another interesting appointee is Varun Gandhi, who has also been elevated as Party general secretary. Uma Bharati, Smriti Irani, Prabhat Jha and Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi have been made new vice presidents. One surprising exclusion from the party's parl board is MP Chief Minister Shivraj Chauhan.
