The three convicts in the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi assassination case will remain in jail for now, the Supreme Court said today. The court's decision has come in the wake of Tamil Nadu government's decision to set free the three convicts. The court said that a three-judge bench will decide on the matter later while adding that states do not have the power to remit sentence.
