Trump Threatens 'SNL' With Federal Investigation

Trump Threatens 'SNL'br With Federal Investigation Donald Trump took to Twitter on March 16br to voice his distaste for NBC’s ’Saturday Night Live.’ The episode that prompted his reaction wasbr a rerun from 2018 that featured a sketch inbr which Alec Baldwin portrayed Trump. He complained that the show spendsbr “all of their time knocking [him], over & over.” Trump suggested that ‘SNL’ was colludingbr against him, and threatened to investigate. The “equal time rule” mandates that U.S.br broadcast television give equal air-time opportunitiesbr to opposing political candidates, if requested. However, Trump is no longer a candidatebr and ‘SNL’ is a parody show, making it immunebr to the type of investigation he suggested. This isn’t the first time Trump hasbr suggested action against 'SNL.' In December of 2018, he called its “one sided coverage”br a scandal, and in February, he voiced his frustration atbr the lack of "retribution" they face.
