Activists gathered again on June 2, 2019, to call for the withdrawal of a proposed amendment to the city’s extradition law, which many fear could facilitate the Chinese government’s persecution of dissidents in Hong Kong. The rally in Hong Kong’s busy Tsim Sha Tsui district is not likely to be the last such action staged by opponents of the measure, since a large-scale march is being organised for June 9.
