Thousands of people took to the streets of Taipei on June 23, 2019, to express their concerns and opposition to media outlets the protesters described as being “pro-Beijing”. The demonstrators called for people on the self-ruled island, which Beijing considers to be part of China, to reject the influence of the media outlets.
