China, the dominant supplier in the global rare earths industry, has threatened to use its market position as leverage in Beijing’s trade war with Washington. The only US rare earths supplier, MP Materials, has increased production to reduce the country’s reliance on China for the crucial ingredients used in everything from mobile phones to electric cars.
