US$4.8 billion ‘horizontal skyscraper’ nears completion in China

Construction is nearly complete on a so-called horizontal skyscraper in China’s southwestern province of Chongqing. The Raffle City Chongqing complex features a futuristic design including a bridge which spans across four of eight buildings. Developers say the horizontal span named “Crystal” is one of the world’s highest sky bridges, and will be a key feature of the complex which includes residential flats, offices and leisure facilities as well as a hotel and shopping centre.
