Three women today tried to enter the Sabarimala hill shrine but had to return after protests by devotees as well as aides of the temple's chief priest. Hyderabad-based journalist Kavitha and Kochi-based activist Rehana Fatima had to turn away after reaching close to 500 metres from the sanctum sanctorum.
