This is a simple "Super Mario Maker 2" level that plays the melody of a lullaby my grandfather wrote. br br The ID for this level is XGD - SYY - SVF. br I also made a version that's actually a challenge to navigate. The ID for that version is 6KY - MSL - 5BG. br br In Super Mario Maker 2, the pink note blocks will play a note when a game object bounces on them from above. The pitch of the note depends on the y-coordinate (altitude) of the block (in most cases) and the instrument that plays the note varies depending on the object that strikes the block. By making a level that scrolls automatically, you can force the game to activate the objects at fixed times, thus allowing you to use the level as a sort of player piano. I should point out that there are more advanced techniques that one can use, but I haven't figured them out yet. br br To my shame, I was unable to fit any of the other voices in this level; James Bard wrote a nice harmonic line & chords. However, the levels are only "tall" enough to fit slightly more than two octaves, and I needed both for the melody; playing the same note with different instruments at the same time isn't possible with the simple technique. There's almost certainly a way to do it with more advanced techniques (i.e. making the note blocks move on tracks) but I confess I don't have the patience to research that. br br I recorded the video in several short snippets using the Nintendo Switch's built-in video capture, then spliced them together using kdenlive, an open-source video editor. You can probably see a few visual jumps where the splices occur; I figure the audio is the important thing.
