Chile's shaken government makes concessions after protests

Chile's government is making concessions in attempts to combat week long deadly protests over price increases.br Chilean President Sebastian Pinera on Thursday announced a freeze until the end of next year on a 9-point-2 percent increase in electricity tariffs.br Hundreds of demonstrators, still dissatisfied with economic concessions, returned to the streets on Thursday.br At least 18 people have died in violence that began after a 4-cent subway fare rise imposed by the government due to rising oil prices and weaker currency.
