CDC Identifies br 2 New Deadly Superbugs.br The report released by the br Centers for Disease Control (CDC) on br Thursday focuses on five antibiotic-br resistant infections, or "superbugs.".br The report states that overall, br antibiotic resistant superbugs have br killed more than twice the number br of people than previously speculated. .br In 2017, one such infection, br C. difficile, caused almost br 250,000 hospitalizations and br resulted in almost 13,000 deaths.br "We also need new vaccines, new diagnostics and other new tools to help doctors better treat their patients or better prevent infections in the first place."br - Michael Craig, CDC Advisor, via CBS News.br The report does state br that since 2013, deaths br from antibiotic-resistant br infections have fallen by 18 percent.br It's likely that the over-prescribing br of antibiotics has led to the new superbugs.
