Even after it moved away from the books (almost immediately), I wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt and enjoy it. Sadly, it just wasn't possible. The setscinematography are overall pretty good but the acting is terrible, the story is convoluted and trite. Everyone's pretty but it's all so disjointed, fake and really painful to watch.
