Bumble Bee Foods Hasbr Filed for Bankruptcy.br Canned seafood brand Bumble Bee Foodsbr announced their decision to file for Chapter 11br bankruptcy protection on Nov. 21. .br Bumble Bee plans on selling it assetsbr for roughly $925 million to its largestbr creditor, Taiwan-based FCF Fishery.br The sale would be a loss for Bumble Bee’sbr owner, Lion Capital, as the private-equity firmbr acquired Bumble Bee for $980 million in 2010. .br The bankruptcy proceedings are reportedlybr meant to help facilitate the sale, as well asbr reduce Bumble Bee’s overall debt burden. .br Bumble Bee currently owes the U.S. Departmentbr of Justice $17 million, after the company was finedbr $25 million in 2017 for “price-fixing” their products. .br Despite its bankruptcy, Bumble Beebr Foods is expected to continue itsbr U.S. and Canadian operations.
