Mobile Internet services have been shut down in 16 districts of Uttar Pradesh following violent protests against the amended citizenship law. After the violent demonstrations in Lucknow and Sambhal, it has been decided to shut down the Internet as a precaution. The police have appealed to the people not to ignore any rumors, the administration has appealed to the people to maintain peace. Internet is closed in Lucknow, Ghaziabad, Agra, Varanasi etc. whereas in some areas of Delhi, internet was also blocked on Thursday.
