Juul Pods Contain Hazardous
Toxins, Says Harvard Study.
The study was published
in the 'American Journal of Respiratory
and Critical Care Medicine' last week.
Of the 54 Juul pods
analyzed for the study,
46% tested positive for
glucan, a microbial toxin.
Studies have shown that
inhaling airborne glucan could
lead to severe inflammation of human airways.
Lung inflammation
can lead to a host of health issues,
including asthma, emphysema and
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.
The highest levels of glucan
were found in the tobacco
and menthol flavor Juul pods.
A study in April found that
glucan was present in more
than 80% of e-cigarette products.
The president of the
American Vaping Association (AVA)
criticized the Harvard study.
These authors have identified no actual risk ... they are promoting their findings knowing that many will falsely interpret the paper to mean that vaping could be equally or more hazardous than smoking cigarettes, Greg Conley, AVA President, via Yahoo Lifestyle
