The Super Bowl History of the Kansas Citybr Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers On Feb. 2, the Kansas City Chiefs andbr the San Francisco 49ers will face off inbr Miami, Florida, for Super Bowl LIV. For the Chiefs, it will be their firstbr Super Bowl appearance in 50 years. They last faced off againstbr the Minnesota Vikings in 1970,br emerging victorious, 23-7. Previously, the Chiefs made their Super Bowl debutbr in 1967, losing 10-35 against the Green Bay Packers. The 49ers have a much more extensive Super Bowlbr history, having made seven total appearances in thebr championship game, including this season. Under the leadership of star quarterbackbr Joe Montana and legendary head coachbr Bill Walsh, they won their first Super Bowl inbr 1982, defeating the Cincinnati Bengals, 26-21. Walsh and Montana went on to lead the 49ersbr to two more Super Bowl wins in 1985 and 1989. In 1990, the 49ers crushed the Denver Broncos,br 55-10, led by veteran quarterback Montana andbr the team’s new head coach, George Seifert. The 49ers then won Super Bowl XXIX inbr 1995, beating the San Diego Chargers 49-26. In 2013, the 49ers experienced their firstbr Super Bowl loss to the Baltimore Ravens, endingbr the game with a nail-biting score of 31-34.
