Coronavirus: Covid-19 daily death toll up 55 per cent in China’s Hubei province

China’s health authorities reported 409 new cases of coronavirus infection and 150 additional deaths on February 23, 2020, taking the total number of cases to 77,150 and total number of deaths to 2,522. All but one of the new deaths were in Hubei province, the outbreak’s epicentre, which accounted for 398 of the 409 new cases. The other death was in the southern island province of Hainan.
