MS Dhoni was not the first choice as first CSK player in IPL 2008 auction. Former Indian cricketer late VB Chandrasekhar, who was CSK's chief selector in 2008 as well as director of cricket operations, had revealed in an interview that N Srinivasan was against the idea of roping in Dhoni as CSK’s first player and instead wanted Virender Sehwag.
