California Governor Gavin Newsom wants to help undocumented workers affected by the novel coronavirus.br Newsom announced a plan to offer financial assistance to roughly 150,000 undocumented workers.br Business Insider reports that under the new initiative undocumented workers could get $500 in support.br The application process will open next month and will be handled by local non-profits not the government directly.br This makes California the first state to enact a financial support plan for undocumented workers.br California has over 2 million undocumented workers who pay more than $2.5 billion in taxes each year.
