Kaepernick donated an initial $100,000 to the fund,br which is aimed at helping communities of color that arebr being “disproportionally devastated” by the virus. As of April 20, the fund hasbr raised more than $287,000. According to the fund’s website, structural racismbr in housing, medical institutions, employment andbr transportation have perpetuated the issue. Colin Kaepernick,br via statement The fund will reportedly work to provide shelter,br food and personal protective equipment (PPE)br to those without proper access. It will also work to help incarcerated peoplebr of color by partnering with organizations tobr pay bail and reduce prison populations.
