In the 2016 Clausura playoff quarterfinals, Club América defeated their big rivals Chivas de Guadalajara. After a goalless draw in the first leg, Chivas opened the scoreline at América’s Estadio Azteca and could have made it 2-0 had they not missed a penalty. Then, with goals by Osvaldo Martínez and Oribe Peralta, América managed to come back.
