Amidst the prolong uproar over reservation for SCST in India, a dalit group stunned the nation after it demanded exclusion from the SC list. Devendra Kula Vellalar, a subsect of Dalits, staged a protest. While the group has several reasons to give the Scheduled Castes status, one of the major reasons was that they want respect in the society and not discrimination.
