Deputy Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ismail Mohamed Said
advised couples who want to get married to legally register their marriage to avoid problems for their children in the future.

He added that the failure to register marriages would make it difficult for their children to obtain a birth certificate and this would affect their citizenship status.
