When it was announced that Nurul Izzah Anwar was leaving Lembah Pantai to contest in Permatang Pauh, and her former assistant Fahmi Fadzil was going to run instead, some lamented the choice, thinking he was a sacrificial lamb in a difficult seat in the May 9 general election.
But Fahmi defied the odds, defeating former minister Datuk Raja Nong Chik with an increased majority.
We caught up with the now breakout star who is preparing to face his first week as an MP in Parliament.
