Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi says he would like to see how his rival for the Umno presidential post, Khairy Jamaluddin, will open up the party to non-Malays, citing Umno founder Datuk Onn Jaafar's attempt to open up party membership to non-Malays did not go well.br br However, Dr Ahmad Zahid accepted the reality that the struggle of any political party cannot purely be race-based and said he would assist the chosen leaders in strengthening the party.
